Fattening Feed Factory Coming - Livestock Minister.
Livestock Development Minister Idi Mukhtar Maiha has asked Ecogold company, manufacturers of animal #fattening products, to establish a factory in Nigeria as a matter of urgency, in order to boost animal feed production in the country. The Minister stated this when the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ecogold Company, Mr Martins Nwaege, and his team paid him a working visit in his office in Abuja today. The minister revealed that the Ministry is working towards transforming the livestock sector through the construction of modern #abattoirs, massive #pasture cultivation, #feedlots for animal fattening, ranches, and massive animal health coverage among others. While assuring Ecogold Company of partnership with the Ministry, the Minister tasked the company to establish a factory in Nigeria in order to reduce import dependency on animal fattening products. According to Maiha, Nigeria is currently spending millions of dollars on the importation of animal feeds. "Let us leverage on this and see what we can come up with," the Minister maintained. He added, "We want to partner with you, we want to ensure that the product goes nationwide. The Honourable Minister equally advised ECOGOLD to organise stakeholder engagements to enable the Company promote the products effectively and efficiently. Speaking earlier, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Martins Nwaege, assured the Minister that the proposed Nigeria feed factory would come on stream within two years, adding that he will use Nigeria as a pilot country and later move to other African countries. Nwaege stressed that the initiative will create job opportunities for women and youths in the country, emphasising that the product has been certified by the National Animal Production Research Institute (NAPRI). Expression of Interest Dear Sir/Madam, My name is Olalekan Waheed Kola, a graduate of Food Technology with hands-on experience in milk processing and dairy product development. One of my notable academic projects involved developing yogurt from locally sourced milk. I am eager to contribute to national food innovation and livestock productivity. I also served with the Federal Government's NPower (Agro) programme as a volunteer for two years, where I was actively involved in community-based agricultural extension and public sensitization on food safety and nutrition. This experience, combined with my technical discipline, has equipped me with both grassroots and practical insights into Nigeria's agro-food ecosystem. In recent years, I've worked with an engineering firm as an Electrical Draftsman, but my passion remains rooted in the food and agricultural sector. With the creation of the Ministry of Livestock Development, I believe this is the perfect opportunity to return to the field in which I was trained and to contribute to the success of initiatives such as the dairy transformation program and milk value chain development. I would be honored to serve in any capacity where my knowledge, passion, and experience can be useful to the Ministry's vision. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to support national development through livestock and dairy innovation. Warm regards, Olalekan Waheed Kola 08038550856 owaheedkola@gmail.com FCT, Abuja.
