A two-day High-Level Regional Workshop on the Development of the Animal Feed Industry in West Africa and the Sahel
The workshop, officially opened by Permanent Secretary Dr. Chinyere Ijeoma Akujobi aimed to address the challenges of Aflatoxin in feed and develop a comprehensive regional framework for traceability, monitoring, and management.
The event was part of the European Union's support for the ECOWAS Agricultural Policy (ECOWAP) through the PRISMA project implemented by Enabel, Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and LUXDEV.
Dr. Akujobi emphasized the need for a sustainable feed and fodder system in the region, stressing the importance of a strong monitoring and evaluation framework for evidence-based intervention.
She commended ECOWAS for addressing the issue of feed and fodder, a significant cost driver in livestock production, and a crucial factor in achieving sustainable and competitive livestock production.
